Peter Lee - Chief Executive Officer
PhD. Prior to joining UniServices Peter had spent most of his career in the United States. Between 1988 and 2003 he held executive positions with the $US30 billion International Paper Company, including Global Director of New Product and Process Development and, from 1995, Vice President, Corporate Research and Product Development. Peter returned to New Zealand in 2003. He was raised and educated in Auckland, where he completed a PhD in Chemical and Materials Engineering at The University of Auckland in 1975.
Craig Brown - Chief Financial Officer
BCA CA. Craig is responsible for the financial strategy of the UniServices operations. Previously he has worked for Ernst and Young and in his own chartered accountancy practice. He has played a commercial and financial role in high tech companies including MAS Technology (now Stratex Networks), and Genie Systems, an international e-commerce company set up from New Zealand. He has worked in the United Kingdom and South Africa, and was part of a team that listed MAS Technology on the NASDAQ.
Will Charles - General Manager, Technology Development
BSc (Hons) Dip Bus. Will joined the team at UniServices in August 2005. Most recently at Novartis Korea he worked as their Business Unit Head, Primary Care. Will has had extensive commercial experience in life science businesses in Europe, Asia and New Zealand where he has held executive positions at GlaxoSmithKline, Roche and Celltech.
Janice Smith - General Manager, Human Resources
B.Tech (Hons), PGDipBus(HRM). Janice joined UniServices in 2006 to lead the Human Resources function. Janice combines careers in Science/Technology and Human Resources and has worked in Australia, Japan and the United Kingdom. Her career has seen her exposed to a range of industry sectors including retail, recruitment consulting, banking and mining.
Rosanne Ellis - National Business Development Manager Technology
PhD, MSc (Hons). Rosanne joined UniServices in February 2010. Prior to joining, she held business development and commercialisation roles with Industrial Research Ltd and URS NZ Ltd, working with clients across a diverse range of industry sectors, as well as local and central government agencies. She has lead MSI’s Global Expert service – connecting NZ companies with local and international experts to overcome various business challenges. Post- graduation, Rosanne worked in Germany and Switzerland providing risk and environmental management consultancy services.
Mark Burgess - General Manager, Research & Consulting
MSc (Hons). Prior to joining UniServices in 1992 Mark worked throughout his career in New Zealand industrial, scientific and health sectors in sales, technology transfer and manufacturing roles.
Claudia Vidal - General Manager, Business Operations
MCom, MBS, GradDipInfo Sys, GradDipMgmt. Claudia joined UniServices in 2008 to pursue excellence in operations and services. Over the past few years Claudia has held various strategic leadership roles. She brings to UniServices a combination of general management, operations, IT and commercial experience most recently gained at Tru-Test Ltd, The Warehouse, and TelstraClear. In these organizations she has established systems and technology functions and led sizable IT and operations projects, facilitating change and enabling increasing performance.
Sandie Gusscott - General Manager, Contract Education
MEd (Ed Mgt), Dip Sci Ed. Sandie joined UniServices in February 2005. Prior to this she held senior positions in the Auckland College of Education and with the Ministry of Education. As Manager of Contracting within the college she oversaw the successful completion of several major contracts.
Gary Putt - Director Business Development
BSc (Hons), DipTech. Gary joined UniServices in April 2001. Positions Gary held prior to that included Science Team Leader for the Invertebrate and Microbial Systematics Team and Auckland Business Development Manager for Landcare Research. He was also Business Manager, Grasslands with New Zealand's largest Crown Research Institute, AgResearch.
Bryan Read - Dir Business Dev, International Education
BCom, Master Applied Linguistics/TESOL and is completing an Education Marketing Doctorate. Bryan has extensive experience in Education and marketing. As Director –International Business Development – Education he is responsible for the English Language Academy a leading edge operation, he established in 2001. Previously he managed the University of Waikato’s Auckland campus and worked for the British Council in Japan. He has completed over 80 international marketing trips and is Chair of the NZ university Middle East marketing network.
