The University of Auckland researchers
are thought leaders in the clean energy sector

At the forefront of innovative energy solutions we are leaders in research and development and training industry leaders.

Our track record

We work with New Zealand's leading energy companies harnessing natural resources, monitoring seismic activity, and optimising power plants amongst other innovative and world leading R&D.

Our strong track record of clean energy innovation dates back to the 1970s and a significant number of captains of industry are trained and educated at The University of Auckland, and we intend to continue the tradition of training the best and brightest for generations to come.

Current activities

Here's a selection of what we do, working locally and internationally in a diverse range of multidisciplinary R&D programs across the clean energy value chain, creating breakthrough technologies that will shape future industry directions.

Educational Programmes

We have a diverse range of educational and training programs designed to educate and train the next generation of energy professionals.

Clean energy is a strategic focus for The University of Auckland - we see this as a key engine of growth for New Zealand and we are determined to continually lead innovation and breakthroughs in this sector. A new course has been established to support this sector  'The Master of Energy' . The Master of Energy (MEnergy) is an interfaculty postgraduate degree, taking a multi-disciplinary focus to solving industry problems

Our vision for the future of clean energy

Clean energy covers a diverse range of expertise, sectors and areas, and we intend to lead innovation and knowledge generation across the board both from a sector point of view e.g. geothermal, wind, solar to the specific functional areas eg prospecting, operations, optimisation.
